Tried drawing Pitch as he is in the books again and here's the final result. Was pretty quick with it, only spent a few hours. I've been thinking a lot more about what he looks like and decided another go was necessary.
I always figured at least one of those straps would be used to hold a scabbard. I mean, he does use swords in the books, and was basically a space pirate for a while. So I incorporated that. As for the ornate sort of headdress he has on in a lot of the illustrations? I always figured that was a hood, based on a few passages in the book. Maybe I'll draw him with that actually up sometime.
After Nightlight did his thing and turned Pitch's arm human again, I thought that blast of light would have done a bit of damage to the surrounding areas as well. The different levels of corruption on his skin is a result of that, otherwise I think his skin would be totally black aside from his face.
As a side note, it's really hard to make someone look large and intimidating when they're as skinny as Pitch is...
((OOC- I just got done reading the E.Aster Bunnymund book.. and thank goodness I did! The scene is so greatly done.. and the way his body color looks mixed in with what Nightlight did? Gorgeous!
This is amazing. Like seriously, AMAZING!!! I really like this and haven't seen much of his book look but from what I did see I thought he might've looked really weird in reality (in a bad way) and I was worried. Now I see your picture and am not so worried! I was probably just peoples style of drawing that threw me off... I LOVE you're though, its really awesome! Ya gots mad skills bro! LOL, for reals though you do. This is going into my favorites and OMG I reeeally NEED to read the books!!!!!!!!
My only observation is that the scabbard is way too high - there is a reason we wear them on our hips, like weight support and better accessibility. But aside that, YUM. I love the entire design.
